Fire and Rescue Department officials said the victim was declared dead at the scene before the body was handed over to the police for further action.
Brono had gone to the river at the Tong Hup estate around 12.30pm on Wednesday (Sept 4) to collect his catch from the nets he placed there.
However, he did not return home, prompting his friends to search for him.
They only found his T-shirt, cap, shoes, motorcycles and a ripped net in the area.
Concerned estate workers alerted firemen for help as they were afraid that the victim had been attacked by a crocodile.
