BEAUFORT: Police arrested four men and one woman believed involved in smuggling 507.54 grammes of syabu.
District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah said the arrests were made on Tuesday by a team from the Kepayan Headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Department and the IPD Beaufort Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.
ADVERTISEMENT He said the first arrest was made in front of the Menumbok Ferry Terminal during which two men were detained and seized 408.83 grammes of syabu.
The second series of arrests occurred at two separate locations, resulting in the seizure of 507.54 grammes of syabu worth of RM50,000.
Ismail said information from the first two arrests led to a follow-up raid on a rented house in Taman Eramas, Beaufort.
This raid led to the arrest of two local men and a woman, and the seizure of 98.71 grammes of syabu.

Additionally, the police confiscated a necklace and three ATM cards suspected to be related to the offence or used in criminal activities, under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
All suspects are remanded and will be charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
