LABUAN: Labuan residents feel punished by exorbitant MAS and AirAsia airfares on the Labuan-KL route which is around RM2,500 for a return fare for the school-break and Malaysia Day holidays effective Sept 14 to 22.

Frequent traveller and businessman ST Chia said MAS economy fare for the route Labuan/KL was RM908.40 between Sept 18 to 22 and the return fare was quoted at RM1,569.36 for return on Sept 21. 

While AirAsia is charging RM979 on Sept 21 and RM1,329 for return on Sept 22. At other times the fares are much lower. Labuan-KL flights take about two hours 30 minutes.

Based on these fares travelling overseas is cheaper.
