Kota Kinabalu: The Royal Malaysian Police plan to build a modern Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Tuaran to replace the existing centre in Kota Kinabalu.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the new centre would be fully equipped to produce excellent trainees.
ADVERTISEMENT He said Pulapol Kota Kinabalu (KK) has produced more than 7,000 policemen through 68 series of releases since it was established in 1994.
“If we look at the number of personnel produced at Pulapol KK, the acceptance of trainees for low-ranking officers and the quality are the same as other training centres in the country.
“We do not face any issues in providing training, however, Pulapol KK still faces a lack of facilities, especially in terms of training in water.
“Therefore, the Royal Malaysian Police plans to move Pulapol KK to an area in Tuaran where the site for construction has been identified.

The Constable Plak started on March 10 and ended on Sept 6 with 243 trainees.

Commenting on the 15 Malaysian and Chinese who strayed into Philippine waters last Sunday, Jauteh said police respect the actions taken by the Philippine authorities against individuals who were found to have entered the country illegally.
“So far, we have not received any further information from the Philippine authorities and the latest developments are the same as the statement issued by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on Thursday.
“We have not received information on whether that they have been flown to Manila for deportation as the authorities are still carrying out further investigations.
“We are waiting for the decision of the Philippine authorities and we respect the decision taken. Even though we propose and expect them to be released, but this rests entirely with the Philippines,” he said.
