Five injured in Lahad Datu crash

LAHAD DATU: A collision involving a Proton Iswara Aeroback and a Proton Saga FLX at KM10 along Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan, here, on Friday left three people seriously hurt and two others with minor injuries.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the incident occurred when the Proton Saga FLX heading towards Sandakan from Lahad Datu lost control and entered the opposite lane before colliding with the oncoming Proton Iswara Aeroback in the 4.30am incident.
ADVERTISEMENT The Proton Iswara Aeroback’s driver and his two passengers suffered serious injuries with two of them pinned inside the vehicle.
“The Proton Saga driver, a 39-year-old Indonesian and another passenger from the Proton Iswara Aeroback suffered minor injuries.
“The trapped victims were extricated from the vehicle by personnel from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department and taken to hospital for further treatment,” he said.
According to Dzulbaharin, blood samples from the two drivers were drawn and sent to the Chemistry Department for alcohol and drug tests.

He said investigation is ongoing under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and those who witnessed the accident may contact S.I Yuslee Yussof at 089-881255 or come to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters.
