Kota Kinabalu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has always been open to criticism, making it the only State Government that carried out its role through different approaches while safeguarding the people’s interests.

Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Deputy President Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said coordination and communication within the GRS coalition has always been transparent, while at the same time approachable when involving decisions that would benefit Sabahans.

Acceptive quality, he said, has been the one of the key factors for GRS to function cohesively despite having various parties within the coalition that has showed positive results.

“We want a government that is open (to suggestions) and willing to accept criticism and what I can tell is that the GRS Government is the most unbiased government.

“There is always tolerance within the government. We have never ignored other party’s opinion (or suggestion) as we are nothing but fair,” he said, at the Inanam PGRS annual general meeting.

He also said such quality is needed for a government to function well to ensure that the image of a ruling coalition will not be viewed negatively but as an inspiration not just for leaders but the people.

Masidi said a government should not view criticism as a weakness but an encouragement to perform to even higher level as each decision made would impact the people.

He said this evidently shows the strength of GRS that has accepted opinions and suggestions from its members or component parties by implementing solutions that has benefitted Sabahans.

“The times of living under a ruling (government) that fears criticism or the inability of accepting other member’s opinion is over.

“The current (GRS) government is proving so (by leading with such quality) and always open for criticism.

“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, we should continuously support the government because there has been no other government as open as we are,” he added.

The State Finance Minister, who is also Karanaan Assemblyman, said the acceptance quality within the coalition is also highlighted by the various members that comprise of different races and religions.

With Sabah being well-known for its unity, he also said GRS efficiency of running the State’s administration further advertises Sabahan’s image and should be held as an example to the whole nation.

“We do not need the ‘ketuanan’, the only ‘ketuanan’ that should exist is ketuanan rakyat,” he added.
