Given the combined population of 78.9 million in East asean, the Minister noted that Sabah’s strategic location and international connectivity make it a vital hub for trade, sustainable tourism, and Business Events (BE) in the region.
In her briefing, Dr Rosmawati said every country has its own association to facilitate, coordinate, and build their own BE communities, respectively. “Malaysia is no exception.
This will help to strengthen and foster close networking among members of the BE industry. Being the Sabah Chapter Chairman has helped me to build the Business Events ecosystem and BE industry in Sabah.
“Our vision is to establish Sabah as a premier destination for business events and exhibitions in East Asean. We want to promote and position Sabah as a gateway to the East Asean market,” she said.
Maceos can significantly contribute to the economy of Sabah in bringing Business Travellers with high spending power, Dr Rosmawati added.
Maceos extended an invitation to Liew to officiate at the Business Events Forum themed “Empowering Asia Pacific through Business Events” scheduled to be held on February 27 and 28, 2025 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Dr Rosmawati said this second edition of “Be in Sabah” to strengthen the Business Events industry in Asia Pacific follows the success of the Business Events Forum - “Gathering of the International Business Events Communities” – on Feb 29 to March 1, this year.
“Next year’s forum aims to reconnect and engage with key stakeholders. The Asia Pacific region acts as a vibrant centre for Business Events (BE), propelling innovation, collaboration, and economic advancement. Maceos wants to bolster the BE sector by capitalising on the region’s rich cultural heritage and natural allure.
“Through diverse enlightening discussions, the forum will explore strategies for fostering business expansion, cultivating effective leadership, and crafting resilient business tactics,” the Sabah Chapter Chairman explained.
Dr Rosmawati also informed the Minister of other upcoming events in the Maceos Sabah Calendar (2024-2025), such as Xplore Sabah Expo 2024, Karnival Malaysia 2024 (KK), MegaHome Expo (2025), and 12th Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference & Exhibition 2025 (SOGCE).
