RANAU: An Integrated Crime Prevention Operation (OBMJ) led by three Ranau IPD senior police officers was conducted here, recently, focussing on illegal immigrants.
The operation was carried out in Kg Waang, with assistance from the Ranau District Malaysian Registration Department (JPN), Ranau District Immigration Department and the Ranau District Malaysian Volunteers Department (Rela).
Seven men and seven women were nabbed during the operation.
Four Filipinos were detained at the Ranau Police Station lockup.
All detainees were handed over to the Ranau District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) for the purpose of investigation under Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Such operation will continue in the future. The public is welcome to channel any information to the nearest police station or through social media platforms such as the Ranau District Police Official Facebook.

This is in line with the effort to combat crime, illegal immigrants, drugs and negative social ills in the district.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, a team of officers and police personnel from the District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD), Ranau conducted an inspection and raid in an “Operation Tapis” located in an unnumbered house in Kg Kundasang Lama, Kundasang, Ranau, Sabah.

During the raid, the complainant and raid personnel nabbed a local man (suspect) in a room in the lower part of the house.
The officers reportedly discovered brown paper box containing three packages suspected of containing ketum leaf powder and a 1.5 litre plastic water bottle containing liquid suspected to be ketum.
Also confiscated were eight transparent plastic containers suspected of being packages of ketum powder that had been used.
At the same time, all parents and guardians are advised to always be aware of the activities of young children, especially teenagers who are still in school, so that they do not fall into crime and drug abuse and activities that can tarnish the good name of the family, nation and country.
