Recurring flooding of key shortcut for Kampung Rancangan Klias residents
BEAUFORT: The relevant authorities are urged to address the recurring flooding (pic) of key shortcut for Kampung Rancangan Klias residents.
This road, part of the Babura Kebatu Scheme, connects residents to Kampung Rancangan Klias and serves as a vital link to the main thoroughfare.
ADVERTISEMENT A concerned citizen, identifying himself only as “Aduan Rakyat” highlighted the road’s significance, especially when the main route becomes impassable due to flooding.
“The root cause is a poorly maintained, overgrown drainage system that obstructs water flow,” he said.
He emphasised the road’s importance as an alternative path during floods from Kampung Lupak, providing a key shortcut to Kampung Rancangan Klias.
“Ironically, residents now hesitate to use this shortcut due to frequent flooding that submerges the road,” he added.

He urged the Sabah Drainage and Irrigation Department to conduct regular drain maintenance to ensure proper water drainage from the area.
He also appealed for intervention from local officials, specifically requesting assistance from Datuk Isnin Aliasnih, the Assistant Housing and Local Government Minister cum Klias Assemblyman, as well as Datuk Siti Aminah Aching, the Beaufort Member of Parliament, to ensure the road remains usable for residents.
