Masidi asked all GRS partners not to worry if Gagasan Rakyat becomes strong because they are fighting for GRS.
TAWAU: The distribution of seats among Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties for the 17th State Election (PRN17) will be discussed “heart-to-heart” and adhere to the fundamental principle of defending what is already in place.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Deputy President Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said this is based on the assumption that the party with the best candidate has a higher chance of winning and will be supported to contest.

He said it does not matter which component party GRS candidate comes from, ultimately the victory of GRS seats is more important.
“Our fundamental principle is what we hold onto now, we defend and discuss the rest heart-to-heart,” he said when asked about the distribution of seats among GRS component parties in PRN17.

He said this when met after officiating the Gagasan Rakyat Apas Division Annual Meeting, here, Sunday. Also present were Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister and Gagasan Rakyat Apas Division Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
Masidi asked all GRS partners not to worry if Gagasan Rakyat becomes strong because they are fighting for GRS.
“We want to strengthen Gagasan Rakyat so that we can help other candidates in the Government in the upcoming PRN...we have no intention of stealing members or snatching seats from our friends in GRS.
“Even our efforts to strengthen the party are solely to ensure that our friends win in PRN because, for us, every GRS seat is important, regardless of whether it is contested by Gagasan Rakyat or another GRS component party,” he said.
He wants other Gagasan Rakyat divisions to follow the steps taken by the Apas Division, which not only strengthens the party but also the people’s support of the Government.
He said Nizam, as the Apas Division Chief, has shown excellent leadership, allowing Gagasan Rakyat to become the strongest party in the Apas area.
He said this can be seen not only through the excellent attendance at the division meeting but also through its membership, which has exceeded 11,000 with 183 branches and is still working to open more branches that have not been established yet.
