Kota Kinabalu: The Lions Ambulance Society Sabah (LASS) received its third mercy ambulance from Jetama Sdn Bhd through a corporate social responsibility programme on Monday.

LASS Vice Chairman PDG Karen Koh said they responded to more than 8,000 emergency cases, saving many lives since 2010.

“Presently, LASS has four staff nurses and as many responders working full time. We have two units of ambulances but as you might already know, the two vehicles are pretty old by now. 

“This gift is not just a vehicle, it is a lifeline. It is a promise of timely, efficient and effective medical care in emergency cases. 

“In moments of crisis, when every second counts, this ambulance will be the difference between despair and hope, between loss and life. 

“Your donation to LASS is more than a symbol of generosity, it is a testament to your unwavering support for our cause and your belief in the value of every human life. 

“Your contribution ensures that we are better equipped to serve our community, responding swiftly and saving lives and for that we are profoundly grateful,” she said in her speech. 

Besides providing 24/7 free emergency ambulance service, LASS, located at Jalan Damai, beside Tshung Tshin Secondary School, also gives free CPR courses to the public and students as well as providing affordable ambulance transportation service.

Presenting the mock keys was Sabah Development Berhad Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung who hoped other GLCs would emulate their subsidiary company’s action to support the community’s social well-being and health services, making tangible differences in the lives of people.

“Let this set a footprint for many GLCs to come forward not only in Kota Kinabalu but all parts of Sabah, after all they make so much from us, Sabah, we should share.

“A GLC is different from the ministry because we are speedier in terms of delivery and we don’t have those issues that you know become obstacles.

For corporate companies, they are much easier and faster to make distributing decisions.

“The provision of an ambulance today is a testament to our shared vision of a safer and healthier Sabah. LASS has been doing exceptional work in providing timely and lifesaving services to those in need. ”
