TAWAU: Police arrested a 22-year-old foreign woman on suspicion of carrying a sharp weapon without permission in her vehicle at around 12.56am, here, last Saturday.
Tawau District Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin said the weapon, a sheathed knife was found under the driver’s seat during inspection.

Police also found a baseball bat and a wood stick placed on the rear passenger seat.
He said a team of officers and Strike Team members of the Tawau Police Station had previously come across a suspicious four-wheel-drive vehicle in the parking area of Jalan Mahkamah Tawau.

“The driver was detained for inspection and found a sharp weapon in her vehicle,” he said on Monday.
Jasmin said the female suspect was arrested after failing to provide a reasonable excuse for having the weapon.
“The weapon was confiscated along with the vehicle driven by the suspect and taken to the District Police Headquarters (IPD) Tawau for further action,” he said.
He added that the case was investigated under Section 6(1) of the Explosive Corrosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.
He said the act of carrying any weapon in a vehicle without permission or a valid reason is against the law.
