Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his condolences to Raja Petra Kamarudin’s family, wishing them strength and resilience in this trying time.
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and several others have paid tribute to blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, who died in the UK on Monday night, aged 74.
In a brief Facebook post, Anwar expressed his condolences to Raja Petra’s family.

Former DAP veteran Ronnie Liu said Raja Petra, who was one of the co-founders of Bersih, played a key role in planning the group’s first rally in 2007.
"He was a good writer and orator, a good storyteller and able to think out of the box,"he said in a Facebook post.
Liu also recalled Raja Petra’s earlier involvement in the Free Anwar campaign, which he said was not known by many. "He preferred to work underground,"he said.

The campaign was part of a broader political movement to support Anwar’s release from prison in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
It emerged following Anwar’s arrest in 1998, after he was dismissed from his position as deputy prime minister by then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Anwar faced charges of corruption and sodomy, which many, including his supporters, viewed as politically motivated.

Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said Raja Petra’s contributions as a writer and analyst left a significant impact on the nation’s political history.
"Let us pray that Allah forgives and blesses his soul, and grants him a place among the righteous in His paradise,"the Machang MP said in a Facebook post.
Federal territories Umno information chief Ghulam Muzaffar Gulam Mustakim said in a Facebook post that the news of Raja Petra’s death came as quite a shock.
He said that one of Raja Petra’s quotes still resonates with him: "Expressing a view or opinion is neither right nor wrong; it simply sparks thought about an issue or action – whether it is right or wrong."
"Rest well, uncle. Deepest condolences from us at Batu Umno,"he said.
Earlier, Raja Petra’s wife, Marina Lee Abdullah, said he died from a blood infection that spread to his lungs and later to his liver.
