Filipino is ordered to enter defence over syabu

The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five and 30 years, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old Filipino was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of having 32.26gm of syabu.
Ruzlan Ajut was ordered by Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Ruzlan.
ADVERTISEMENT The court set Sept 30 this year for Ruzlan’s defence.
Ruzlan is accused of having the drug at 7.20pm on Aug 27, last year in front of a stall in Taman Telipok Ria, near here.

Three witnesses were called during the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim conducted the prosecution while Ruzlan was not represented.
In another case, a 58-year-old man claimed trial to using a fake document as genuine.

Lim allegedly used the fake document which was the ‘Power of Attorney’ letter dated Feb 25, 2022 at a law firm in Sinsuran Complex, here.
The court set Oct 9 this year for mention and released Lim on bail of RM8,000 in two local sureties. Lim was also ordered to report to nearest police station once a month and not to tamper with the prosecution’s witnesses.
Lim was advised to engage a counsel to represent him.
