Sandakan chess whiz to represent Sabah at national-level event

SANDAKAN: Vision Primary School Sandakan again demonstrated its prowess at the 2024 MSS Sabah Chess Selection Camp at SMK Madai, Kunak.
Four chess players represented Sandakan in State-level competition against elite players where Year 5 student Lim Shu Zheng emerged victorious.
ADVERTISEMENT He would represent Sabah in the national MSSM Chess competition from Sept 14 to 19, in Johor.
Lim would compete in the U-12 Boys category.
Three other talented representatives also performed admirably. They are Isaac Chung Vui Ken (U-12 Boys), Quek Kiing Shing (U-12 Boys) and Christal Glory Christopher (U-15 Girls).
Under the guidance of their teacher, Jennyfer Jonius, these four students advanced from the Sandakan district competition to the State-level tournament, achieving remarkable results.

Each State would send their top six players in each respective age category to the national competition.
