PETALING JAYA: Former research assistant Yusoff Rawther has been arrested for alleged possession of firearms and drugs.
His lawyer, Rafique Rashid, said Kuala Lumpur police detained Yusoff at about 9.30am last Friday.

"The investigation is under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, after the initial remand related to the Firearms Act 1960 was rejected."
Rafique said Yusoff has denied ownership of the pistols and drugs and claimed that they were planted as a trap, and that his urine test for drugs came back negative.
He also said Yusoff told the police the items were planted in his car by individuals who have a personal vendetta against him.
