TAWAU: The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) is currently preparing the procurement process for additional assets to enhance security control in the waters of Sabah and Sarawak, said Defence Deputy Minister Adly Zahari.

This includes the acquisition of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and the second group of Littoral Mission Ships (LMS), which are expected to be obtained in 2025.

“All (procurement) processes are nearly (complete) and we are trying to acquire them next year and onwards... Most of these assets are being obtained for the waters of Sarawak and Sabah,” he said.

He said Malaysia will act according to its needs as a sovereign nation in facing any arising issues with any country by using defence diplomacy and bilateral relations to resolve them.
