SIPITANG: About 50 villagers participated in a dialogue with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and CelcomDigi in Long Pasia, recently, to find a solution to the frequent communication problems there.

Jenifer Opai, one of the villagers, said that one of the proposals was for the communications tower to be solar-powered because the present relying on generator frequently broke down for weeks and sometimes runs out of fuel for days.

The residents also proposed compensation if coverage issues last more than 10 days a month.

“Many villagers have to walk to Kg Long Miau just to get a signal,” she said.

Health clinic staff, law enforcement personnel and public servants also took part in the dialogue.
