Several Kota Kinabalu roads closed for Maulidur Rasul, Malaysia Day joy

ACP Kasim advised the public to plan their travels accordingly and avoid using closed roads to prevent traffic congestion.
Kota Kinabalu: Several main roads in the State Capital would be closed as early as 5am on Sept 16 in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul and Malaysia Day celebrations.
City Police Chief, ACP Kasim Muda, said police will undertake three main tasks for these events: traffic assignments, road closures and security controls.
ADVERTISEMENT “We are responsible for security and traffic flow, with our duties starting in the morning for the Maulidur Rasul celebration. We will commence at 5am.
“For the second event, Malaysia Day, the activities will begin at 2pm at Padang Merdeka, which is a national-level celebration.
“For the Maulidur Rasul celebration, we will start managing and preparing the parade team from 6am.
“The parade will move from Dewan Masyarakat Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) to the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

“Therefore, the roads to be closed will include those from Bulatan Istiadat to Bulatan Bunga Raya,” he said.
Regarding the Malaysia Day celebration, Kasim said the roads from the KFC roundabout, Bandaran, to Jalan Bunga Raya, will be closed starting from 2pm.

“The roads that will remain closed include Jalan Istana and the Istana Gate, in front of Hilton, from the roundabout in front of KFC to Bulatan Bunga Raya,” he said.
He advised the public to plan their travels accordingly and avoid using closed roads to prevent traffic congestion.
“Also, please refrain from bringing sharp objects or dangerous weapons during both events and do not fly drones during the events.
“We have coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and our air unit to prohibit drone flights on that day (Sept 16),” he said.
Also present were Sabah Broadcasting Director, Salmah Hashim, Sabahfm Manager, Felix Lee, and Assistant Director of the Communication Services Division (PKPM), Sabah Information Department, Edi Rizam Kassim.
