SANDAKAN: A fire involving two acres used tyre at Jalan Bambangan, Mile 11, here, was put out by firefighters after two days of effort.
The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Department Chief, PKPgB Severinus @ Mohd Nidzam Sainkui, said the team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 12:12pm, Thursday.

The operation involved 19 members and was led by Severinus.
He said the fire broke out at an abandoned factory that is no longer operational.

“The firefighters conducted the operation using two 500-foot hoses and four nozzles, drawing water from both the fire engine and a nearby fish pond.
“The operation was concluded on the second day, Friday, at 3:24pm,” he said in a statement.
No casualties were reported and the cause and loss are still under investigation.
