Predator extravaganza is all set to rock the crowd in the grand final at MITEC
Kuala Lumpur: The “best of the best” from 14 regions across Asia Pacific (APAC) will be unleashing their “beast mode” for the APAC Predator League 2025 crown, come 11 - 12 January 2025, for a total prize pool of USD400,000 (approximately RM1,724,000)!

Presenter of the prestigious event – ACER – has zoomed in on the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur as the venue for the grand final showdown, promising a festival-like showcase in front of the eager Malaysian fans.

“Gaming is a passion and powerhouse pillar for Acer. We have journeyed with the growth of this industry that has evolved into mainstream entertainment. Every Predator product that we develop is designed with such users in mind,” said Andrew Hou, President of Acer Pan Asia Pacific, emphasizing that the Asia Pacific Predator League builds a connection between Acer and the thriving gaming community.

Grand final showdown in Malaysia for the first time

So, it is official, Malaysia will be hosting the APAC Predator League 2025 for the very first time!

The previous editions were held in Jakarta, Bangkok, Tokyo and Manila since its inception in 2018.

Going from strength to strength, the Asia Pacific Predator League has seen significant growth, starting with just 8 participating regions in the first tournament, and now welcoming teams from as many as 14 regions and amassing a total of USD1.75 million (approximately RM7.5 million) in prize money for aspiring esports gamers.

For the Predator gaming community of Malaysia, being the host is definitely uplifting and exciting! And for the pro gamers, this could be your chance of a lifetime to represent Malaysia and shine on our home soil.

Touted as one of the most esteemed eSports tournaments, the APAC Predator League 2025 will be featuring the most talented Dota 2 and VALORANT gamers of the Asia Pacific region, including those from Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.

Next Malaysian Qualifier to take place in Sabah

At home, the journey to the grand final for local qualifiers has already kicked off with the West Malaysian Qualifier on 14 - 15 September 2024, followed by the forthcoming East Malaysian Qualifier on 21 – 22 September 2024 (10am – 9pm; Palm Square, Centre Point Sabah, Kota Kinabalu).

The champions of each territory will compete in an offline showdown in Klang Valley in November 2024 with the top 3 advancing to the Predator League Malaysia Qualifier Grand Final. The ultimate winner will earn a lion’s share of the USD38,500 (approximately RM180,000) local prize pool and a ticket to represent Malaysia in the Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 Grand Final, playing against the champions from other countries.

Top winners of the Malaysian Qualifier will walk away with a total prize pool of RM180,000!

The two-day East Malaysian Qualifier at Centre Point Sabah puts together talented Dota 2 and VALORANT gamers from both Sabah and Sarawak who will definitely “suit and arm” themselves to the teeth in the virtual gaming world for the top honours.

Fans “game on” too

Earlier, the Asia Pacific Predator League 2025, built around the theme "It Lies Within", kicked off its new season with CHK DSK and Sid Ibamit from the Philippines emerging as the winner and runner-up, while YoungPray from Thailand and Jiva from Indonesia took the third place.

The 2025 version embodies the creativity by fans and gaming enthusiasts who attested their passion in the Predator League character design competition. The result – is a personification of “true power and courage that lies within”!

Dota 2 and VALORANT

Dota 2 is no stranger to the gaming community. The multiplayer, tactical computer game boasts millions of fans around the world. Steam – the popular gaming platform aptly puts it this way:

“Every day, millions of players worldwide enter battle as one of over a hundred Dota heroes. And no matter if it's their 10th hour of play or 1,000th, there's always something new to discover. With regular updates that ensure a constant evolution of gameplay, features, and heroes, Dota 2 has taken on a life of its own.”

Valorant is another online multiplayer computer game that pushes gamers’ tactical skills to the limit. Revolving around the “Search and Destroy” gameplay where one team attacks and the other defends and vice versa, you need a lot of abilities to win a match.

“Attackers” win by either eliminating all defenders, or successfully planting the spike and guarding it for 45 seconds; “Defenders” win by either eliminating all attackers or removing the spike after being planted.
