Include more sectors in programme: Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce
Lui said the authorities should announce the rules and regulations in detail, including fees that must be paid, so that employers and operators could fully understand the programme.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) urged the Government to expand the Targeted Regularisation Programme for foreign workers by including more sectors such as service, manufacturing and construction.

Welcoming the announcement by the Sabah Immigration Department to restart the programme, SUCCC President Datuk Michael Lui, who is also Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) President, said:

“At present, we learn from reports that the Targeted Regularisation Programme is only for Filipino and Indonesian workers working in the plantation and agricultural sectors.”

The programme aims to legalise the status of undocumented workers in the State until December, providing relief to employers grappling with labour shortage.
