SANDAKAN: The State government is always concerned about youths and sports development and its ecosystem in Sabah.
Following this, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor said the State government has allocated a large budget specifically for the development of sports.

“This allocation is a long-term investment that will ensure the state of Sabah continues to produce athletes who are capable to compete in international sport games.
“This is proof of the government’s commitment in ensuring that the sports field continues to thrive in the state of Sabah,” he said.
Hajiji said this when opening the Sabah School Sports Council (MSS) 2024 Athletics Tournament at the Sibuga Sports Complex, here, on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Hajiji also commended the role of teachers and coaches in the MSS Sabah Championships which are the backbone of the athletes’ success, especially in bringing out new talents and polishing potential of young athletes.
“The success of the Sabah contingent at the recent Malaysian Games (Sukma) which won 29 gold, 36 silver and 55 bronze medals is definitely not just the efforts of the athletes, alone.
“In fact, the efforts included the roles of all including coaches, parents, schools, the community, the private sector and also the efforts of the government under the Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry,” he said.
Thus, Hajiji hopes that the organisation of the Sabah MSS Championship can strengthen the bonds of friendship among athletes in addition to showing the spirit of healthy competition.
