Kota Kinabalu: Among the 3,000 people who lost their lives in the attack on the World Trade Centre blamed on Osama Bin Laden on Sept 11, 2001, was Khoo Sei Lai, a Sabahan.
Her name has been inscribed at the North Pool of the 9/11 Memorial in New York City.
Sei Lai was 38 at the time and built a successful career in New York City as a mutual fund manager at Fred Alger Management. Cousin Datuk Peter Khoo said she was the eldest child in her family based in Sandakan.
Sei Lai’s father Datuk Khoo Thaw Choon, who passed away after the tragedy, was the brother of MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963) signatory Datuk Khoo Siak Chiew who was once a Deputy Chief Minister.
