SEMPORNA: The body of a Chinese tourist, who allegedly jumped into the sea, was discovered off the waters of Pulau Mabul, here, on Friday.
District Police Chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the Semporna Police Headquarters received information at 11.33am regarding the missing tourist, who reportedly jumped into the water.
A search operation was launched by the Semporna Marine Police Force with assistance from divers at nearby resorts, leading to the recovery of the victim's body.
The victim was found at a depth of 17 metres with a grey backpack containing three bricks still on his back, according to Mohd Sabri.
Police have classified the case as Sudden Death and urged anyone with information or missing family members to contact ASP Mohd Ali Amat at 013-2120852, the Semporna Police Station at 089-782020, or visit the nearest police station.
