Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Penampang’s District Monitoring Unit (UPD) urged Membaer of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Chan Foong Hin, and the Luyang Assemblyman, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, to take a more proactive approach in addressing issues affecting their constituencies.

The Unit’s chief, Pritchard Gumbaris, said elected government representatives, particularly those serving on the district management committee, should ensure that basic utilities and amenities in their constituencies are in proper working condition.

“We have received complaints from several villagers regarding the poor state of the rubbish collection centre in Kg Kopungit, Block B.

“Upon inspection, we found that the roof has been torn off, causing rainwater to fill the bins. This has resulted in unpleasant odour, attracting pests like flies and rats,” Pritchard said in a statement, Sunday.

When it comes to skincare, the first thought on our minds would be beauty products such as serums, creams, and masks. However, beauty experts and even researchers have stated that drinking more water can be just as crucial for your skin's health.
He said with the substantial Parliamentary and State Assembly allocations, which total millions of ringgit, both Phoong and Chan are responsible for ensuring that not only the rubbish collection centre in Kg Kopungit but also other essential facilities in Kota Kinabalu are properly maintained.

“As Deputy Federal Minister and State Minister of Industry, Phoong and Chan have the resources to address such issues. They should be able to allocate a small portion of their funds to upgrade this centre for the benefit of the community,” Pritchard said.

He also highlighted that the poor condition of the centre puts rubbish collection workers at risk of contracting diseases.

“While I assume both Phoong and Chan are living comfortably as Ministers, they must ensure that the working conditions of our government labourers are much better than those in the 80s or 90s,” he said.

Pritchard concluded, “This is why we, as leaders, pursue higher education and seek positions of power — to ensure a better life for everyone we are responsible for.”
