21-year-old crashes into jogger, killing her
The woman, a marathon runner and single mother, has been identified by friends as Ho Sue Lynn.
PENAMPANG: A 45-year-old woman was killed after a car crashed into her in front of the ITCC Shopping Mall on Jan 29 (Wednesday).

Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton, in an earlier statement, said the accident happened at 6.20am at Km 7.2 along the road heading towards Donggongon town.

Preliminary investigations showed the victim was hit from behind by a Honda City while jogging.

The impact caused her severe head injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers.

Friends of the deceased described her as a dedicated daughter who would visit her father, currently warded in the Intensive Care Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, every morning.

She was also known in the local running community as an accomplished marathon athlete with numerous victories to her name.

The driver of the Honda City, a 21-year-old man, has been detained by police to assist with investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the incident. Those with relevant information are urged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Saparia Ladoni at 019-8095133.

The police also advised the public to exercise caution while driving and crossing roads, and requested the public to refrain from sharing images or video clips of the incident on social media platforms out of respect for the victim’s family.
