PETALING JAYA: Polling for PKR’s Sabah chapter, slated to be held in April, will only be postponed if it clashes with the state election, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said today.
She said as of now, the party elections at all levels for the 2025–2028 term would proceed as scheduled nationwide, in accordance with the decision of PKR’s central leadership council.

Elections for the central leadership committee, as well as the youth and women’s wings, will be held on May 24, while polling for the state chapters is set to take place from April 11 to 20.
“The council has finalised the dates for state chapter elections nationwide in April. If there is a clash, only then will we consider postponing them,” Fuziah told FMT.
She was responding to a call from Sabah PKR vice-chairman Roslan Sapar for the state chapter’s election to be postponed so that its machinery could focus on the upcoming state election.
He said a postponement was necessary to prevent any division that might arise as members vie for positions, especially as unity within the party was crucial in facing the state polls.

Roslan, the Kalabakan PKR chief, added that all 25 PKR division chiefs in Sabah had agreed with the proposal to delay the state chapter’s polls.
Last November, Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor was quoted as saying that the state’s 17th state election could be held any time before October, the final month of the current administration’s term.
