Kuala Lumpur: An opposition MP has called for a special Dewan Rakyat sitting to discuss the future of Palestine, after US president Donald Trump announced plans to take over and develop the Gaza Strip.
Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) said Trump’s surprise plan was akin to declaring war on all Muslims and “lovers of humanity”.

“I ask for a special Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara sitting to be held to discuss Palestine’s future.
“(Trump’s plan) is crazier than ever. (Such a thing) has never happened in the world as it would shift the geopolitics of the world,” he said while debating the king’s speech in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Yesterday, Trump reportedly said that the US would take over the Gaza Strip and develop it economically after Palestinians there are resettled elsewhere.
The US president had earlier proposed resettling Palestinians from Gaza in neighbouring countries, saying the area was simply a “demolition site” at the moment.

Trump said the US would own the Gaza Strip and dismantle any unexploded ordnance before developing it and creating jobs. He added that it could become a home to “the world’s people” and bring greater stability to the region.
