DKK operates through the team work of volunteers, donors and community partners who work tirelessly to prepare and distribute meals. Volunteers engage in various tasks, including chopping vegetables, cooking, packing meals, and maintaining cleanliness at the premises, all without receiving payment.
Their efforts are purely voluntary, motivated by a shared desire to help the community. Volunteer, Hashima Hasbollah, said DKK officially began operations on Dec 16, 2024.

“Each day, 200 meal packets are prepared, with 40 packets sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and 23 packets delivered to Usia Mosque.
Meal distribution occurs daily, except on Sundays. During the fasting month, the schedule is adjusted to coincide with the breaking of fast,” he said.
A defining feature of DKK is its inclusivity, reflecting the empathetic and accommodating nature of Sabahans. Anyone in need, regardless of background or circumstance, can receive a meal without any questions asked.
Koh has been deeply committed in helping the less fortunate by providing support in any way he can. One of his key efforts is offering free meals, recognising that the rising cost of living has made it difficult for many to afford even basic necessities.
This compassionate approach has made DKK a vital lifeline for struggling individuals and families in urban areas. “Now, more than ever, its existence is crucial and long overdue,” he said.
The sustainability of DKK relies heavily on donations and volunteer efforts. Contributions come in various forms, including financial aid, food supplies, and manpower. The initiative has also gained traction on social media, helping to spread awareness and encouraging more individuals to get involved.
Koh has pledged to continue supporting the initiative and encouraged others to contribute in any way possible, whether through monetary donations, volunteering, or providing resources to ensure the project continues to assist those in need.
At the moment, similar initiatives are also being carried out by other NGOs and church groups in Tanjung Aru and Penampang.
