TAWAU: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Tawau has called for justice for a stray dog they said was skinned alive.
Spokesperson for SPCA Tawau, Madam Leong, said they received a complaint from a business operator of a shop lot at Taman Da Hua 3 about a dog whose back skin had been ripped off.
She said some volunteers went to rescue the dog and sent it to the animal clinic for treatment.
She added that according to the veterinarian, the dog has lost 90 per cent of its back skin.
Despite the treatment, the dog eventually died. Leong said three similar cases happened in different locations around the same time. They were at Taman Megah, in front of the Kam Ling Restaurant (Jalan Chong Thien Vun) and the third at Taman Da Hua 3.
“The society believes that someone wants to hurt stray dogs.”
“We hope witnesses will step forward to report these offenders to the police,” she said.
