KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, is closely tracking Skyrich Development Sdn. Bhd.’s second appeal to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to increase the approved height limit for its Star City project from 48.2 metres to 112 metres above sea level.
Skyrich appointed Pans Ops Aero Konsultant to conduct the required aerodrome safety study, completed in October 2024, and submitted it to CAAM in November. CAAM later requested further technical data, which was submitted on 29 March 2025.
Phoong, responding to a question in the State Assembly, said the developer can only submit plans to Kota Kinabalu City Hall after CAAM approval.
He also reiterated his follow-up with the Transport Ministry and his commitment to protecting buyer interests through continued engagement with the Star City Buyers Association (PEKESTAR).
He highlighted previous concerns raised in April 2024 over alleged fraud in the initial approval process, which contributed to delays in the KK One project.
