PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating a viral video involving Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dengkil students wearing Ku Klux Klan (KKK) robes over concerns of racial discrimination.

Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said a report on the video was received at 7.24pm yesterday, Malaysia Gazette reported.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the video was believed to be part of an assignment for the subject ‘Contemporary Global and Legal Issues’, and featured a reenactment of the historical oppression of the black community in the US by the extremist KKK,” he was quoted as saying in a statement today.

He added that the video content was believed to be aimed at fostering an understanding of racial discrimination and how new laws were enacted to address it.
