Several roads in KK to close temporarily for BIM 2025

KOTA KINABALU: Several roads will be closed temporarily for the Borneo International Marathon (BIM) 2025 here on May 11 from 1am to 10am, said district police chief ACP Kasim Muda on Monday.

The marathon will feature four categories — 42km, 21km, 10km, and 3km — with an estimated 7,859 runners from Malaysia and abroad.

A total of four officers and 90 police personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure the safety of all participants.

The 42km route starts at Likas Sports Complex, passing through Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen, Jalan Lintas, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, and Jalan UMS, and ends back at the stadium.

The 3km route, dedicated to people with disability participants, will run a short loop around Bulatan Istiadat and return to the starting point.

Temporary road closures will begin at 5.30am, especially affecting areas near Bulatan Bunga Raya, JQ slip road, Bulatan Hakka, and Bulatan Masjid Bandaraya.

Motorists will be redirected to alternative routes, including Jalan Coastal, Jalan Lintas, and Jalan Bukit Bendera.

The public is advised to plan their journeys early and cooperate with traffic diversions to ensure a smooth and safe event.
