HONG KONG: A Cathay Pacific flight attendant mistakenly served a glass of white wine to a three-year-old boy travelling in business class on a Hong Kong-London flight recently, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.
The boy’s mother, surnamed Wong, raised the issue publicly via Chinese social media and told SCMP that the airline failed to properly explain how the incident occurred.
Although the parents, both aged 35, did not seek immediate medical treatment, they remain concerned about possible delayed effects and are arranging specialist checks.
Cathay Pacific has apologised and offered a refund, upgrade vouchers, and to cover medical costs, while claiming that an internal review and immediate crew coaching were conducted.
An unnamed flight purser told SCMP that insufficient training of new staff may have contributed to the error, reflecting a broader decline in service standards amid rapid hiring.
