Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) is making a return to the 4th Shureido International Karate Cup championship to be held at Gelanggang Olahraga Ciracas in West Jakarta, Indonesia starting on July 4.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin said on Tuesday that they will be represented by 83 athletes accompanied by nine coaches.
“The organisers are expecting more than 2,000 participants in the three-day competition. This will be a good opportunity for our athletes to gain experience against strong foreign opponents and hopefully they can give their best,” he said.
SKA did not take part in the meet last year. They did participate in 2023 when it was held in Pasay City, Philippines and managed to win 12 golds, 14 silvers and 16 bronzes.
