Woman survives Keningau car blaze

KENINGAU: A 26-year-old woman escaped unhurt after the car she was driving caught fire in a single-vehicle crash near the Public Works Department (PWD) building here early Saturday.

The Proton Persona reportedly skidded and struck a street lamp before catching fire, with about 60 per cent of the vehicle damaged.

The victim managed to exit the car safely before firefighters from the Keningau Fire and Rescue Station arrived at 2.55am, about three minutes after receiving the emergency call via Mers999.

The fire was brought under control at 3.18am using one hose line connected to the engine’s water tank, and the operation ended at 3.29am after ensuring the area was safe.
