SRC crowned overall champion

Kota Kinabalu: Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) was crowned overall champion in the 43rd Interport Balut Competition 2025 hosted by Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) recently.

The challenge trophy was jointly presented to them during the closing dinner by Senior Deputy CEO of the Sabah Tourism Board Tay Shu Lan and KYC Commodore Albert Shim.

The two-day competition attracted a total of 148 participants with 80 from Singapore, eight from Sarawak and 60 from Sabah.

Albert Shim, who is also the organising chairman, said the outstanding performance from SRC secured them a well-deserved victory among a strong line-up of participating teams.

“KYC are looking forward to hosting future Interport events and continuing the cherished tradition of fostering goodwill and lasting friendships through the game of balut,” he added.

Meanwhile, KYC Rear Commodore Emmanuel Lai extended the club’s appreciation to Tay Shu Lan for her presence and all participating clubs for their sportsmanship, enthusiasm and warm fellowship that contributed to the event’s success.

The participating clubs were Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC); Tanglin Club; National University of Singapore (NUSS); Singapore Recreation Club (SRC); Eurasian Association; The Cruise Cafe & Lounge; Singapore Cricket Club; The Sarawak Club; Tawau Yacht Club; The Kinabalu Club (TKC); Singapore Khalsa Association; Sandakan Yacht Club; Janice Villa Kundasang and Sabah Golf & Country Club (SGCC).
