KOTA KINABALU: Star President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan has clarified that the party will not join the newly formed GRS state government.
“Our position is clear: Sabah must be governed by local parties, not coalitions reliant on Malaya-based influence,” he said in a statement.
He noted that the appointment of Datuk Mohd Ishak Ayub as Assistant Minister was a direct decision by the Chief Minister, not a party-negotiated role.
“We respect his decision to accept the post as the elected representative for Bingkor,” he added.
He affirmed the party's commitment to acting as a responsible opposition, supporting policies that protect Sabah while opposing any moves that undermine MA63, the Constitution, or Sabah’s long-standing struggle.
“Our stance is firm and consistent. We support a state government fully led by Sabah local parties. Anything less weakens Sabah’s bargaining power and future,” he said.
