KOTA KINABALU: Warisan Kepayan assemblyman Chin Tek Ming has called on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to honour key election pledges to the Chinese community, including increasing non-Muslim allocations from RM70 million to RM90 million and recognising the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for state scholarships.
Chin stressed these promises test the government’s credibility, especially after the pledge to appoint a Chinese deputy chief minister did not materialise.
He thanked voters for supporting Warisan’s Chinese candidates, saying the result reflects growing local sentiment and the preference for Sabah-based governance.
Highlighting persistent local issues such as unstable utilities, damaged roads, and flooding in the Bundusan commercial area, Chin acknowledged Warisan’s limitations as the opposition but pledged to continue engaging authorities and private management to push for improvements.
He emphasised that progress may take time but vowed to keep raising community concerns in the State Legislative Assembly and public forums.
