KOTA KINABALU: Former Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Raymond Tan (

Tan told the Special Corruption Court on Wednesday that security protocols, CCTV coverage and ministerial guidelines made it impossible for anyone to bring cash gifts into his office.
He rejected testimony by Kota Kinabalu Divisional Water Engineer Teo Chee Kong, who claimed he and another officer had delivered the money and discussed allocations allegedly collected from contractors.
Tan said he had never heard of the so-called “centralised collection scheme” described in court and confirmed that he had never been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the alleged payments.
Tan, testifying as a defence witness for former Water Department director Awang Mohd Tahir, said JANS procurement fell under the Finance Ministry’s authority, as the trial involving Awang, his wife and a former deputy director continues on Thursday.
