Two-month salary special financial aid for Sarawak civil servants

KUCHING: The Sarawak government today announced a Special Financial Aid (BKK) of two months’ salary for civil servants in the state.

Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the two-month salary BKK is based on the last basic salary of November 2025, with payments scheduled for this month, involving a total financial implication of RM131 million.

He added that the second-phase salary increment under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) of seven per cent, effective Jan 1, 2026, will involve a financial implication of RM56 million.

For federal civil servants, he announced a one-off RM700 payment, to be made in the first quarter of 2026, with an estimated financial implication of RM98 million.

“My administration hopes these incentives will serve as motivation for civil servants to continue enhancing the quality of public service delivery to the people,” he said when winding-up debate on Budget 2026 in the state legislative assembly here.

The state government also expressed its appreciation to state public service retirees through a one-off special payment of RM500 to each retiree, involving an allocation of RM50 million.

Abang Johari also announced a one-off RM700 incentive for private media practitioners registered with the six media associations in Sarawak as of Dec 1, 2025, in recognition of their role in delivering information professionally.

“The contributions and sacrifices of media practitioners in delivering information and news professionally have had a significant impact on Sarawak’s socio-economic development,” he added.
