Kota Kinabalu: The Sheraton Kota Kinabalu in Asia City officially opens its doors in a soft launch today (Monday), bringing a new standard of luxury hospitality to the region. 

The hotel had its exclusive preview on Friday, allowing invited guests to tour the property and experience its high-end facilities ahead of the official opening.

The highly anticipated addition to Kota Kinabalu’s skyline is set to elevate the guest experience with breathtaking views, top-tier amenities, and a strong commitment to sustainability. 

Standing 23 storeys tall, the hotel offers a thoughtfully designed layout that emphasizes space, comfort, and guest experience.

One of the standout features is the rooftop chapel, offering stunning 180-degree views of the city. 

Couples can exchange vows with the waterfront, the airport, and even Mount Kinabalu as a backdrop, making it ideal for weddings and special events.

One floor down is the rooftop infinity pool, bar, and gym.

General Manager Nauman Hasan expressed pride in the hotel’s debut, calling it one of the best products Marriott International has brought to Kota Kinabalu. 

“From the quality of the product to the service we’re providing, it will set a new benchmark in the city,” he said, noting the property’s potential to attract international travellers.

The hotel offers 302 luxurious guest rooms designed with a modern yet elegant aesthetic, fully equipped to meet international five-star standards. 

Currently, about 150 rooms are available for booking, with the full inventory of 307 rooms expected to open by February 2025.

Sheraton Kota Kinabalu also excels in its dining and event facilities. Guests can enjoy the newly introduced Burger Box, serving gourmet burgers, as well as the relocated Sakagura Japanese restaurant from Oceanus Mall. 

A grand ballroom on the sixth floor can host up to 600 guests for banquets or 1,000 participants for conferences, while a meeting room on the 24th floor accommodates around 60 guests, making it ideal for smaller corporate or private gatherings.

Nauman highlighted the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, including plans for green certification and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations. 

Strategically located in the heart of the city, the property offers easy access to major attractions, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

To celebrate the soft opening, the hotel is offering a promotion for RM599, including an overnight stay, breakfast for two, and complimentary parking, bookable via the hotel’s official website.

The hotel represents TP Group’s second venture in hospitality, following the success of Monocolo Boutique Hotel. Its Chairman Tan Sri Paul Lim confirmed plans for another resort in Semporna and reaffirmed his commitment to bringing high-quality developments to Sabah.

With Bonvoy members already booking stays and limited rooms still available for special events like the countdown to 2026, Sheraton Kota Kinabalu is set to become a top destination for local and international travelers, corporate events, and special celebrations, reinforcing the city’s status as a premier tourism and business hub.
