SIPITANG: Durian lovers were treated to eight tonnes of various types for free by a generous businessman near the old District Office building and Shell station after prayers on Friday. Jumat Tuah (pic), 63, said the free distribution was a gesture of gratitude for the blessings he has received.

“We achieved our durian sales target last year and this is a way of sharing our blessings in conjunction with the New Year 2026,” he said.

The giveaway attracted also visitors from outside the district, including Membakut and Tenom. Nine four-wheel-drive vehicles were used to transport the durians.

Jumat from Kg Bangsal who currently resides in Kg Muhibah said he sourced them from orchards around Sipitang specifically for this charitable activity.
