Kota Kinabalu: Two pulsating Class 5 races headline tomorrow’s (Sunday) local races at Tambalang tracks. Race 5 over 1,000m sand track has progressive-type My Wife’s Melody as firm favourite.
Her last two races showed glimpses of her calibre and capability.
Stalwarts Apin Apin Prince, Cooler Than Ice and Phoenix Rising however are capable and prepared for the challenge.
Race 6 sees more intensive competition with well-prepared Magic Blinks intending to make a statement against favourites, the steadfast Amoyy, and Aqis under astute jockey MD Sairee. Surprise package Piping Time can challenge Brave Guard for minor placing.
Race 1 (Restricted Progress) over 800m sand track sees a diverse field of 12 starters given the opportunity to experience the pride of winning. Khabib, Casino Man, Dedek President and Gereek are likely to tussle for top spot.
Over at Sungei Besi, Selangor Turf Club on Sunday, Royal Sabah Turf Club’s (RSTC) two thoroughbreds Sabah Win and Borneo Star are entered in Race 10 and Race 12 respectively.
Sabah Win finished a credible third over 1,020m Class 5B last start and has good prospect for this Race 10 over 1,100m. Pacific Soldier will provide a stern test alongside Pacific Beauty. Both are quality-types and love to attack the line. Wins Eight, last start winner over 1,020m in December 2025, should be respected.
Borneo Star is future prospect and should use the opportunity (Race 12) to gain battlefield experience against a strong field. Ultra-consistent Genrich is primed for a winning run with competition coming from Grand Supreme, Super Mahjung and Outfit.
