PARTI Warisan’s candidate for the Lamag state seat, Mazliwati Abdul Malek Chua, is confident of mounting a strong challenge against Barisan Nasional’s Mohd Ismail Ayob in the straight fight.
The 51-year-old lawyer is the daughter of former late Assemblyman Datuk Haji Malik Chua and previously contested under Warisan in a one-on-one contest against former late Bung but lost.
Mazliwati said running for the Lamag seat gave her an advantage due to its smaller size. She said her struggle as a Kinabatangan native is in line with Parti Warisan’s long-standing objective of fighting for Sabah.
Mazliwati added that Warisan has remained consistent in its struggle and is confident that the people of Kinabatangan are wise enough to choose the best representative.
Meanwhile, Warisan’s Kinabatangan parliamentary candidate Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman said his aspiration is to change the status of Kinabatangan, which is known as one of the poorest districts.
“We will champion issues affecting the people, particularly roads, water supply and land,” said Saddi, a former Sukau assemblyman, having served three terms in 2008, 2013 and 2018.
