Daily Express (February 27, 1984) - KUALA LUMPUR, Sun. – Usno President Tun Datu Haji Mustapha bin Datu Harun, has been identified as one of the four Usno leaders who had opposed the recent amendments to the Constitution.

Former Deputy President of the party Datuk Dzulkifli Abdul Hamid who is now an ordinary member of Usno, also named the present Deputy President, Datuk Sakaran Dandai, Usno Secretary-General, Datuk Haji Idrus Matakim and Information Chief and assistant Secretary-General Encik Awang Usman Salleh as the other three who had gone against the Constitutional amendments and Labuan being made part of the Federal Territory.

Datuk Dzulkifli who said he ‘expected to be expelled’ from Usno also said that the Prime Minister had ‘aptly’ referred to Usno’s recent actions as ‘stabbing the Barisan Nasional from the back’.

He also said that the signature campaign against Labuan being made a part of the Federal Territory was carried out on the instructions from the Usno headquarters here.

He said the four should resign to prevent confusion which they themselves had created among the people.

Meanwhile, he has accused Datuk Sakaran of attempting to ‘cover up’ the activities of the four Usno leaders and said there was no necessity for them to do so.

He said this in response to Datuk Sakaran’s attack on him for making the appeal to Umno not to expel Usno from the Barisan Nasional.
