Third award for DBKK

Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) has been awarded the national-level Asean Clean Tourist City Standards 2024-2026.

It was the third time receiving the award.

Secretary of the Industrial Development Division, Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac), Masliza Che Omar, presented the award to DBKK Deputy Director-General (Operations) Robert Lipon, who represented Kota Kinabalu Mayor, in a ceremony held at Cyberview Resorts and Spa, Cyberjaya, on Monday.

The Asean Tourism Standard is a set of standards by Asean countries to improve the quality of services in the regional tourism industry, in line with the Asean Strategic Tourism Plan 2016-2025 towards making Asean a leading international destination.

DBKK, in a statement Tuesday, said its success in winning the award was based on compliance with all the assessment criteria of the Asean Clean Tourist City Standard, which is the main standard and guide for all Asean countries in providing high-quality and high-performance tourism service delivery.

The evaluation session was conducted by Motac last August 2023.

This was DBKK’s third achievement after successfully clinching the same award for 2018-2020 and 2020-2022, said the statement.

The National-level Asean Clean Tourist City Standards Award Certificate was handed over to Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah in a ceremony held on Tuesday.
