Man held for beating wife with m-bike exhaust pipe

LAHAD DATU: A 29-year-old was detained for allegedly punching and beating his wife with a motorcycle exhaust pipe following an argument at their home in the Bagahak Plantation, here, Wednesday.
District Police Chief ACP Nasri Mansor said the suspect, a security guard in the plantation, and his 36-year-old wife earlier had an argument over their children.

The man had scolded the children for fighting while playing but his wife defended them, causing him to be angry.
The suspect then beat his wife on her back, using the pipe, prompting the woman and their children to leave and went to the village head’s house.
“At about 3.45pm, the suspect came to the village head’s house and punched her in the face and body repeatedly,” said Nasri.
“The village head later calmed the situation down and the suspect left the scene,” he said, adding that a report was later made.

According to Nasri, the victim suffered injuries, including bruises on both eyes, lips, arms and her back.
Nasri said the suspect, who fled to his family’s house in the Matamba plantation, was suspended from work and the victim made a police report.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim have been married since April 2010 and have three children,” said Nasri.
“The victim claimed that this is not the first incident, but had not filed any report previously,” he said, adding that police detained the suspect at his family home the following day and seized the exhaust pipe, believed to have been used in the incident.
Nasri said the suspect has been taken to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters where he was tested negative for drugs.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
