Man charged with trafficking 56gm of syabu in Inanam
The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old man was tentatively charged in the Magistrate’s Court here Friday with trafficking 56gm of syabu.

Unemployed Saldam Makat who was brought before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie allegedly committed the offence on April 5, this year at 3pm, at the car park in front of a shop in Inanam town.

However, no plea was recorded from Saldam.

Meanwhile, a 57-year-old man was sentenced to two months’ jail for theft.

Unemployed Ahmad Awang admitted to stealing a pair of shoes belonging to one Faredzuan Asmaran at 11.15am, on Feb 17, this year in the prayer room, on the third floor of the Koa Kinabalu International Airport.

The charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine on conviction.

The court heard from the prosecution that Ahmad’s act was recorded in the CCTV of the premises and he was arrested later at 8.50 pm on the same day following a report lodged by the prosecution.

Ahmad was ordered to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest.
